“As we look into the next century, leaders will be those who empower others.”

- Bill Gates

Volunteering is the beginning of our leadership journey. For the full details of how volunteers become eligible for director and executive positions, please consult the President.

In the meantime, here is a mnemonic to remember the basics of the process:

Volunteers are collected

Directors are selected

Executives are elected

And they all keep the Society connected!

Our leadership journey begins with volunteering. Here at the Clinical Science Society we believe in servant leadership. Such a concept centres around our core value of charitable community outreach. Every leader in the Clinical Science Society, whether they be an executive, a director or a volunteer, is compassionate and driven by a will to empower others. Our leaders serve the members of the Society, the healthcare sector and the wider community. We ‘roll our sleeves up’ to achieve our goals. Goals which hold our values of academic excellence, charitable community outreach and professional networking as their foundation. We work as Society members for Society memebers.

“Servant leadership is all about making the goals clear and then rolling your sleeves up and doing whatever it takes to help people win. In that situation, they don’t work for you; you work for them.”

- Ken Blanchard, Author of Leadership & The One Minute Manager

So, as you explore your opportunities as a volunteer, please keep in mind that the greatest leaders in our Society uphold the values of servant leadership. If you are interesting in leadership opportunities and hence volunteering, please contact the President.
